Amy Bishop- Professor, Mother, Murderer

On Friday just past,  a  mother of four, Amy Bishop, a University of Alabama biology professor, shot six people... killing three teachers.... when she was denied tenure.

Years prior, she shot her brother.

I'm wondering why the university's background check on her didn't come up with  her brother's murder?

Still,  even if if she didn't snap there, it's likely she would've snapped elsewhere.
Some people are train-wrecks waiting to happen.
If only we could see them before hand.

Here's a great link to many facets of the case. Clicking on the title of this post will also get you to the link.

  1. Aside from feeling bad for the victims of this horrible crime, I do sympasize her as a woman engineer who does not know how to play politic in some sexist 'professional' places...

  2. They said on NPR one night that her brother's case was never brought to court because it was ruled an accident...I just think it's strange because it happen at the same campus, why let her stay there?

  3. katherine, i guess they view an accident as an accident and therefore the family gets insurance claim. an accient would not be a legal reason i think for dismissal from work evn when the employer knows it.

anonymous, i do agree! you need skills, you need savvy and you need a self restraint button.

sometimes, in some people the self restraint button just sort of pushes/triggers itself. i don't believe she is innately evil. more... innately un-well, misguided. perhaps directed by voices in her head.
or.... maybe she's 100%sane and wants 15 minutes of fame.
